Our Mission

Not Your Normal Entertainment seeks to bring high quality music to eastern Hillsborough County. Our community theater produces modern, edgy musicals. Our community chorus welcomes anyone, regardless of experience. Our music lessons focus on vocal health, piano, and guitar proficiency. Our event services allow you to add live music to almost any event! We are certainly 'Not Normal'.

The Scarbroughs, Our Producers and Founders

 Andy and Joe Scarbrough founded Not Your Normal Entertainment in the fall of 2017.  Joe earned his Bachelor's degree in vocal performance and his Master's degree in Conducting, both from the University of South Florida. He has performed with Kenny Rogers, the Florida Orchestra, Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Cleveland Symphony, and the University of South Florida choral ensembles. He is also the Artistic Director of Soaring Sounds Tampa. Under his direction, Soaring Sounds has performed with Rocktopia!, a Broadway touring show; at Disney weddings; and in the Candlelight Processional three years in a row. Currently, Joe teaches voice and piano lessons and is the choir director at Skycrest United Methodist Church in Clearwater.  Andy earned his Bachelor's in Biology at the University of South Florida. Upon graduation, Andy worked as a State Park Ranger focusing on habitat restoration at Terra Ceia Nature Preserve. He has a passion for preservation and conservation and enjoys assisting with prescribed burns, habitat restoration, and botany. Aside from work, Andy enjoys attending shows at the Straz Center and local community theaters. He worked as the sound designer on Seussical the Musical with Valrico Village Players, and is excited to begin Not Your Normal Entertainment with his husband!

Matt Melenas, Guitar Teacher

 

Matt teaches guitar with NYNE, and is involved in local community theater as an actor and musician. He has recently moved to the Tampa area and his credits include "A Christmas Carol", "War of the Worlds", "Othello", "Brief Encounter", and "Legally Blonde". Matthew was the Ensemble Manager and Stage Manager in NYNE's first production, "If/Then", where he also played the Foreman and Biologist.

Erin Woodman, Orchestra Manager

Erin Woodman is a New Hampshire native and received her B.A. in Music from St. Michael's College in Colchester, VT. She moved to Plant City after graduating in May of 2015. A flute has been in her hands since the age of 8, and singing has been her favorite past time since  she was 5. In high school and college, she performed throughout New England in various concerts and festivals. Her love of theater led her to PCE and allowed her to be part of "The Music Man", in 2015. In 2017, she played flute in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", and she was also the flute player for NYNE's first production, "If/Then". She is also a member of the Not Your Normal Community Chorus and Second Time Arounders Marching Band in St. Pete.
